Description

I recall a series of science fiction books I read years ago, but I don't recall the titles or author. In these stories, earth had colonized many planets and organized them under a central earth rule. But with all great civilizations, corruption crept into the system and anarchy ensued. Mother earth was forced to abandon her farthest reaching colonies in order to maintain order on the closest planets and colonies in wars that lasted centuries. All the other colonies were left to fend for themselves. Many of them perished, but the stronger ones survived and a lot of them devolved into medieval feudal societies over the course of those centuries. Once order was restored on earth and the tasks of rebuilding the empire resumed, the old maps were dusted off and search parties were sent to as many of these former colonies that they could find. The reception they received varied greatly from planet to planet, but you can imagine the impact of futuristic weaponry on these medieval societies. Unfortunately, arrogance was one of the things that was not eliminated in those long wars. M4 (again, I have used Leije's Mathias character for the swordsman) and LoRez characters.
