Description

It's been a while since I've done a Star Wars inspired image. If you've been following the 'Clone Wars' series on Cartoon Network, you'll know what inspired this - if you haven't seen the latest episode yet (I usually watch them on-line), I'm not going to spoil it for you... Sometimes in life, you just have to walk away from certain situations....As Ashoka does here. I'm nearing that point with my job. I know jobs are hard to come by, and there are several of my friends here on Rendo that need a job - and I do hope they can find something suitable. But at present, I have to take a good long look at how much this job is affecting other aspects of my life - and my health. But I digress..... I just used V4 (Perfect V4 actually..), injected a freebie morph (Cora Lee by Syltermaid, I believe), and reduced her size to 90% to make her a bit more Ashoka-sized. I found the Togruta headdress on ShareCG some time ago - don't remember who created it.. I combined a photo of a sunset, and the Kansas City skyline to "stand in" for the Coruscant background. I rendered a bunch of Nighmare Hero's spaceships for the ships in the background. I combined the layers with the ships, and the forground, and added just a tad of noise to match the film grain of the photos - which were taken years ago; when I still shot with film! :-D As always, Thanks for dropping by, and for all your comments and support! And mainly for your own inspiring art!

Hey Rod...can you stick a high speed copier in the foreground? Wouldn't that tell the story:) Hate to hear how things are going or not going...seems to happen to everybody in the workworld sooner or later.

If you haven't got your health, you haven't got anything see quote here Staying in a job you hate, that sucks the life out of you, is Not Good. I know what you're doing now was a promotion, but I also know you've hated it from about the second day you started (or maybe when you were still in that training class!), and it's got to be seriously wearing on you. If you can afford to retire (how come you haven't retired yet? how come I can't remember how old you are???) I think you should go for it. It can't cost all that much to sit in the Lair drinking coffee. Let's see ... $100/mo for the power bill, $150/mo for the coffee ... you can live on unemployment until social security kicks in ... no problem! :P I know you'll do what's best for you and Jo, my friend. But if you do decide to walk away, I'll be very positive about your choice. The stress it causes you might not be worth the money. Take good care, dear one. Hugs for now, and we'll see you soon ... :X

This is one dramatic image Rod, you really did great. I love the Star Wars animated series, but wait to watch them when they come out on dvd, so I may not be up to speed. Sorry to hear you're job is putting such stress on certain areas of you're life and I'll put you in my prayers that things will work out for you soon.

Poignant scene. Well constructed and lit. I feel for you my friend, sometimes the money isn't worth what it does to your soul and body. When I am there I meditate and ask for guidance. may peace be with you.

Really excellent work Rod. Very inspired and beautifully rendered. The sunset is perfect for this. The mood and emotion really comes through on this. I forgot about that show, I'm probably a season or two behind. I'll check it out online and netflix.

I think there is a visual metaphore here for current life experience. Walking into sunrise or sunset - it doesn't much matter as either signifies change. Shift work sucks at the best of times, and indeed it is always the worst of times. And your boss has made a shiftwork schedule from hell where there are no good shifts at all. As Antje says if you don't have your health you have nothing. On the other hand, to be perpetually broke is not a healthy life either and getting a job in this economy will be a challenge. I know what it like to be a shift worker, and I know what it is to be flat out broke too (been there 2x). So as with all things it is a balance. You don't want a lifestyle where you are stuck in your basement and all you can do is be on social media and renderosity. On the other hand if work kills you then you don't have a life to live either. Probably not being much help here.

Great scene Rod well done.. I think you have to enjoy what you do in life or it's just not worth doing.. That's why I make toys now, I enjoy it I can do it from home and there isn't the same stress. Though in saying that at the moment I am back at the old job helping them out for a week or 6 lol. But its on my terms and if I have to stay home and make toys for a week then that comes first. I must say my over all health has been so much better since I have been doing the toys.. You look after yourself and I know you will make the right decision which ever way you go..

and you dont need the washing machine so often you can walk 3 days with a patchy undertrouser (same as me - lol )nobody cares, you dont have to shave ,you dont have to grin into faces you hate, you dont have to suck assholes around you ,you can say s**t and crap as you wish, what else oh yeah and you can render until the graphic card smokes. thats independance.(well as long as the pension checks arrive otherwise its no fun) you are the only can who can dedice and evaluate.

I know what your saying!... I myself think of doing that all the time, but I'm in the possition that I'm to young to retire, and to poor to quit! Not to mention that I had to buy a new car that I'm paying for... Guess I'll keep on going. Awesome Image btw, being a heavy starwars fan, I don't know why I never got into the clone wars... maybe one of these days I'll check them out! What ever you end up doing I hope everything turns out great for you... and that your able to keep the TNA girls running!!

Great scene and work, Rod!! Fine about the details. Very symbolic, reflectiing your life. Yes, the job can be "a killer", of time and anything..I am in some way I looking forward to stop working in two years time - lesser money maybe but more time and more fun! Concerning what to chose: I never regret a decission of that kind.. :o) Have a nice day and

Nice render Rod! Yes, I can understand the 'I just want to walk away' feeling. I have always loved my job that I've had for 15 years at the police dept. I work at...but right now it seems the chief's goal is to see how low he can get morale to sink...but I keep telling myself that we need the money and benefits and I actually DO love my job and those I work with. I know how hard going from one shift to another affects the officers...and as you get older it becomes even that much harder. You know your friends here on Rendo will cheer you on with what ever you decide!

I never got into the cartoon version of Star Wars so it is lost on me ... except the feeling of being hopelessly trapped in a job you don't like. Though I don't hate my job so much as I VERY MUCH dislike the "A" holes who are in the position of leadership. Just be VERY careful Rod. You know the old expression ... "it could be worse". It is quite true. You don't want to be left in a position of having NO income at all. I suggest working hard to find a different job BEFORE "walking away". But, that's just my two cents.

In some situations, walking away should always be the first option. In others, it should be the last. You always have to closely examine the true motivations behing wanting to do so. But that's a whole conversation and there's no room here for it. If you feel that your health and life is being affected then you really need to consider what you are doing. I don't know what your job/career is, but is it worth potentially shortening your life by putting your health at risk? And how is that affecting your family? Star Wars... used to love it (had Ep IV on Betamax way back when, and literally played it to death! Then Phantom Menace came along and pushed the franchise to its knees, placed a .357 Magnum to the back of its head and blew its integrity out the front of its skull and all over the floor. Never bothered with Clone Wars as I think it's kinda pointless as we all know the outcome - the Jedi are slaughtered and Annakin becomes a Sith Lord. That said, I'm actually looking forward to seeing what comes from Disney studios. Hopefully they will breathe life back into it... That's just my opinon, of course. Coruscant. You ever read Asimov's "Empire" series? The capital planet of Trantor is a clear inspiration for the heart of the Republic/Empire/New Republic. Cool image!

My dear friend. I know exactly how you feel. I found out they want to make me permanent at my job. A reward for doing the work of 3 people and it's something that is slowly killing me too. Love the sunset there, and despite the planes flying and the sense of war, there is a sense of peace too with her walking away from it.
