Description

&nbspOne of my most vivid memories of my holiday in Rajasthan a year ago was the visit to Amber Fort, an imposing palace built and extended on the top of a mountain by Raja Man Singh, Commander in Chief of Mughal Emperor Akbar's army , in the 16th century. The photo features the Sattais Katcheri, an hypostyle hall of beautiful columns and polyfoil arches. In this place, scribes would sit to receive and record taxes and revenue brought to the Raja,while enjoying breathtaking views over the mountains and valley of Amber.

Jean-Luc, First of all let me say this is without a doubt the nicest tax office I have ever seen. I can hardly believe such an extravagant hall just for the scribes to receive and record taxes. Of course now you have stirred my curiosity as to what the rest of Amber fort looks like

Such a gorgeous place… the amber glow is phenomenal and so calming! This structure has a delicate softness about it that is really inspiring and refreshing. Oddly enough, the purpose of this place humors me. I think I would need to sit in a place like this too, when it comes to taxes :) Incredible capture!

Quelle splendeur ! (et, sur le plan technique, quelle superbe prise-de-vue, chapeau). Il y a dans l'art oriental (au sens large) quelque chose qui me touche, un mélange de dépouillement et de sophistication. Ces colonnes et ces voûtes sont ouvragées et, cependant, l'ensemble paraît d'une grande simplicité. Ça me fait un peu penser à la mosquée de Cordoue, si belle, si simple, si tournée vers la nature, alors que la cathédrale qui croule sous les ors, me fait fuir en courant !
