Description

Photo taken from the border of my city Den Haag (The Hague). This area is called Kijkduin ("look out..." or "view from the dunes") The town in the distance is called Hoek van Holland (the corner (edge) of Holland) It is the enterance of the Nieuwe Waterweg (the New Waterway/Road) the enterance of the Rotterdam Harbor. Industries and industries and industries. In front of it the Zandmotor.. the Sand engine. The sea took land from us.. ha ha So the Dutch created an artificial Peninsula (The dark line under the horizon), and now the sea steals sand from that new land and deposits it along the coast.. so the beach is no longer getting smaller, but getting new sand/land all the time. It is a plan from the 1970's when I was young.. and now (since 2010 they create it and it works.. Very cool )
