I know its not check mate when you haven't started the game yet, but i'm lazy and can't be bothered moving the pieces around the board.

Reminds me of Ingmar Bergman's film "The Seventh Seal" in which the knight is playing chess against death. Good job with the textures and lighting (and, so what if the pieces haven't been moved). Keep up the good work! :-)
