Description

I just went to check the pond and found this mismatched couple underwater with the lady very near to drowning. Much to my relief and maybe hers she recovered, but the juvenile toad is locked on for now, She may have already mated with one of her own species as there is quite a bit of frogspawn in the pond. (frog♀ toad♂) Oh the ignorance of youth! See a side view Here

Both are excellent photos but I have to admit that I did not know the frog♀ toad♂ facts. I always thought that toads lived on land and frogs preferred the water habitats. I am 70 years old and still learning! I can see the difference in this photos especially looking at the difference in the eyes!

Beautiful! I love amphibians, and crustaceans, and insects, and reptiles, and...well...you get the point. This is gorgeous! I love the sheen, the colors, the misguided male (apparently the sort who will mate with anything that moves, regardless of species.) Gorgeous shot. I love their expressions and the side view is marvelous too. I love things that look a bit like aliens I'd write about.
