Sunny Day for this one :) Same Story... The Great Slave Lake is located in the Northwest Territories in Canada. With an area of 28,568 km2, is the second largest lake in the Northwest Territories West, behind the big Bear Lake, and the ninth in the world. This is the extent of the deepest water in North America, with 614 m. It takes its name from Slavey, one of the tribes of Indians in Canada. British fur trader Samuel Hearne explored the area in 1771. In the 1930s, following the gold rush Klondike prospect of travelers in the region. Lode gold there was finally discovered in 1934, which precipitated the construction of the city of Yellowknife in 1935, the capital of the territory on the northern shores of Great Slave Lake. This lake is formed due to the geological event of the withdrawal of glaciers at the present interglacial period the Holocene, it began in the late Pleistocene there are about 11 400 years the Northwest Territories by part of the Canadian Shield. And sedimentary rock formations are visible on the shores of the island Blanchet of Great Slave Lake with visible strata were deposited in ancient seas; the southern and eastern shores of Great Slave Lake unveil a granite relief. Par sa superficie de 28 568 km2, il est le deuxième plus grand lac des Territoires du Nord-Ouest, derrière le grand lac de l'Ours, et le neuvième du monde. C'est l'étendue d'eau la plus profonde d’Amérique du Nord, avec 614 m. Il tire son nom des Slavey, une des tribus des amérindiens au Canada. Le marchand de fourrures britannique Samuel Hearne explora la région en 1771. Dans les années 1930, suite à la ruée vers l'or du Klondike, des voyageurs prospectent la région. Un filon aurifère y fut finalement découvert en 1934, ce qui précipita la construction de la ville de Yellowknife en 1935, la capitale du territoire, sur les rives nord du Grand lac des Esclaves. Ce lac s'est formé suite à l'événement géologique du retrait des glaciers lors de la présente période interglaciaire l'Holocène ; celle-ci a débuté à la fin du Pléistocène il y a environ 11 400 ans sur les Territoires du Nord-Ouest faisant partie du Bouclier canadien. Ainsi des formations de roche sédimentaire sont apparentes sur les rives de l'île Blanchet du grand lac des Esclaves avec strates visibles qui se sont déposées sous les mers anciennes; les rives sud et est du Grand lac des Esclaves dévoilent un relief granitique.
