Description

Trains used to run along here until the 1960's. It is now a cycle and walkway between Chard and Ilminster in Somerset UK. You can see in the background, a line of massive concrete blocks which were part of a very long line stretched across the South West of England to stop the German tanks should they have invaded our country. The lady in the pic is my wife Julie to whom I have been married for 50 years yesterday (Saturday). The pic (not Julie) is very zoomable.

This is a wonderful shot, Jeff. It's nice to see they did something aesthetic with the old rail path. Great looking wall too! Congratulations to you and Julie. You both deserve something special for hanging in there together so long :)

Wonderful photo Jeff and I did not realize that the British had built anti-tank barriers. It certainly made sense but I guess that I had not thought about it before. I have to admit that I zoomed to get a better look at your lovely wife.

I think, I would have preferred to see the old trains running here, but on the other hand, you stay fit while walking everywhere; interesting historical fact on those concrete bollards ... A milestone for both of you, how wonderful! CONGRATULATIONS my friend, BB

At least you still have the station... Stamford used to have two stations! Now only one.. It used to have another line that's gone as well... Shame... Well taken shot though.. Station looks good! Rob
