that is very impressive, but his eyes don't look sad. :)

You're probably right - I've looked at him for too long and can't tell what he's thinking anymore. :-) He wasn't supposed to look sad; that's just how I saw him when I was uploading the file.

Good job. I would recommend adding some bump and displacement to his skin.

The hair is excellent i want to know how did you make the hair look so real. Never give up on your animation dreams

Thanks for the comments! The hair and beard were done using Maya Fur. Some of the texturing was done from a photo, much of it was painted in Photoshop. Model is Nurbs, coz despite all reports, Fur doesn't work well at all on polys or sub-ds.

you are right to go with Maya tough, also did you mean you try 3d in only 2 months?

as07, I had spent a year playing with 3D Studio Max, but the character above was done after only two months working with Maya.

Wow, love the softness on his cheeks and the hair is great! Keep it up.

I like the hair although it looks like it has a self-illuminating property. The variety of shape and placement make it look real. The material on the face however looks like a blown-up jpeg. You really need to have a bump map on there too. But overall very impressive. I want to see what you can do with it, I am really anticipating a newer verison of this.
