Description

The sun rose, as it does every day, and I—awake and on my way to what was a new job—was out to greet it. In the weeks prior to more gainful employment, I was occupied with the movement of dental equipment; I lugged heavy things up stairs, or rolled them on dollies across newly-tiled, newly carpeted, or wholly-unfinished floors. My then-new/and current job is a familiar job to me, a grim necessity that makes a modicum of modern urban life possible. My then-new, still-current job, also makes it possible for me to greet the eastern glimmers of sunrise every Saturday morning. On the Saturday in question, sunrise wrote itself across the back of a bookstore, and I—with my camera—was there to see is. This is what I saw. I’d posted this image incorporated into others: as background, as texture, as something additional and in looking at this naked image, without the context of anything else, I’ve decided to post it here. There is a story to accompany it; there is—after all—a story to accompany anything if you’re still enough to listen for it. Perhaps a story will bloom from the cracks, the colors, and the shapes here…but until then, here is flaking paint, wood, and the slant of sunlight. As always, thank you for viewing, reading, and commenting, and I hope you’re all having a great week.

It looks burned. Or painted to resemble something burned, complete with red fluids leaking out of the pores...well seen, and well captured, Chip!

A superb offering and very evocative. It looks like a monumental wall, a cliff face that stands between where you are and where you want to go. Internal fires break through at certain points. Like something out of Mordor. Just an ordinary weathered wall but look what you've done with it.

It looks like charred wood...I like the structure. But it scares me because I always something sorrowful connect.
