Description

Needs a full view. Did a photoshoot yesterday to test out my new back up camera - a freshly minted Fuji X20. My poor old nikon coolpix 9100 is feeling its age and like any old warhorse who has had a rough life its joints are locking up.i.e. its shutter is starting to stick at random and annoying moments. By contrast, the Fuji is a young track star; it is as small and light as a point and shoot but carries most of the muscle of a SLR, including an optical viewfinder, full aperature and shutter control and it even shoots raw! It has a sensor size between a point and shoot and a small frame SLR. It is so light that I can have it dangling from my right wrist and still hold my SLR steady enough to shoot with it. And it does an amazing variety of bracketed exposures. It's in a relatively new class of camera called Compact SLRs.Hooot! Can you tell I love my new baby? This first shoot was largely "focused" on reflections, textures and contrasts that I could find in a local playground. The snow melt provided some lovely tonal contrasts; I made the most of finding hidden beauty, like this small puddle in the wet, sloppy environment.

Great capture with your new toy! Sounds like it is a very advance P&S camera

A deceptively simple image, but it is appealing on several levels - the range of gray tones, the shadows, the strong diagonal & that cool reflection of the tree branches in the puddle...

What photosynthesis said, Roxy. It is deceptively simple looking but really needs a zoom to appreciate all it's lovely subtlties. Your new toy sounds killer :) Congratulations on your acquisition!! I look forward to seeing more of what your little 'track star' can do.

Lovely shot. I just bought a NIkon D3200. I was not happy when I found out it did not take my older Nikon lenses.

Beautiful! Yes it sounds like you're quite happy with the new camera! Great shot. Really clear image. The reflection under the bench is excellent and is well detailed. An excellent snow scene.
