January 2013
Been at this site five years now and have seen a lot of growth - both artistically and spiritually thanks to the many good friends I have met here. I work with Poserpro2012, photoshop CS6, PSPX2, Perfect Effects 3 and Photomatrix 4. I love working in the material room and continue to find lots of growth there. I also do a lot of postwork fixing, special affects, and framing, all for which photoshop is indispensible. I love doing postwork; no image is anywhere near complete without it.
In the last year or so I've added quite a bit of photography to my gallery. I started with a Nikon Coolpix 9100 point and shoot. It gives amazing quality and its small size makes it easy to pack around and just grab some shots as they come into my vision. I still use it for sneaky people shots but now I use a Nikon D5100 DSLR for my more serious keeper work. Had I known how all consuming my passion for photography would become I should have jumped to a D600 low end pro camera. In my gallery you will see mostly storylines based upon my own visions and versions of Mesopotamian Mythology, sprinkled with some Celtic works and an occasional pinup or two and quite a few special requests. I have long been a writer, though a terrible speller, and so most of my images come with a storyline or poem. No image seems complete to me without words to accompany them.In high school I trained in both the Sciences and Fine Arts but when I went to university I had to choose one or the other and so I went with the life sciences. Art dropped out of my life for a long time... though I never gave up my interest in archeology and mythology. I wound up with a graduate degree in the life sciences with majors in physical geography, ecology and evolutionary biology. My love of nature and a deep naturalistic spirituality eventually led me to the wikkan tradition. Some five and a half years ago I discovered poser after coming across some great 3-d art on the web and after some six months of stumble bum practice I joined this site.Doing this type of art has released many visions and stories that were locked up inside my soul for many ages. It has allowed me to explore the life and times of my primal spiritual ancestor, a girl also named Roxanne, who lived in the Sumerian regions. She whispers the stories of these classic legends in my mind and I create the images to go with them.My stories are mostly written as dialogue and they tend to be rather long. So grab a coffee, a tea or better yet a beer, kick back, relax and stay a while.I hope you enjoy your stay here.Hugs and blessed beRoxy

I love this image. The reflection of the tree in the water and the sheen of wet asphalt and the texture of dirty snow... you did a great job here, and I admire you listening to your inner voice!

We all suffer for our art. ;). Anyway this is a great B & W shot. Glad the Gods made you go back. Well done

Very cool shot and nice capture of the reflection. You don't really notice the person unless you're looking and she's so distant it acutally adds to the image. Kind of like that guy standing in the background of the Abbey Road shot of the Beatles.

Beautiful!!

This is a wonderful capture Roxy, and well worth all the trouble you went through to get it.

This is a fantastic seasonal transition shot and reflection Roxy. Like Art said, you don't really notice the person at all. The reflection steals the show here. Glad you went back! Excellent capture.

this is more than fantastic and wonderful capture it is a peek into another realm; coupled with your narrative, it has become a gateway. Excellent

Splish splash looks messy to me! Well worth the wait! Hang out long enough you might catch those trees budding...

I love reflection shots like this & this is an outstanding example of the genre - the balance of light & dark is perfect. I find myself in this type of situation often & rarely have the patience or persistence to wait out the conditions, so hats off to you for sticktoitiveness. This puddle takes up such a large part of the image that it looks like another world that has interpenetrated ours. And that person is fairly inconsequential here - would have been fine without & is fine as is...

Great real life photo.... passerby and all. Looks like it could have been shot in my neighborhood. Sometimes those unexpected props in the scene, like the person walking by are just fine, they add life to the image, just go with it! Love the reflection too.

Lovely contrasty image. I'm not familiar with your camera, but if it shoots RAW, it might be interesting to add some fill light in Adobe Camera Raw to pull out a little detail in the shadows? Just my 2p (or 2c ?!). Best, Steve

Nice scene – I like the composition, the refection grab you attention and then the long meandering puddle and highlights on the road really carry you into the image. Sorry you got splashed but looks like you kept your camera dry – good job!

Snow on the ground always makes everything look so clean - well, black and whites down apply - lol I didn't see the person in the photo til I read one was there.... you could of taken a shot where the pereson wasn't there and painted a spot job on the photo - a photo touch up.... I love to clone pictures.

This me going often so. I have a picture in my head and I have to be patient. Again waiting for the tram/train, waiting to the typ comes from the shop. Waiting to people, that are aware of a stencil and look up .... Photography is often how auto driving..... prescient. The mirrorings are the eyecatcher. (After that I look for in puddles always first.) You dominate the picture. Everything else is the frame. And because the road seems endless, it is an endless, wonderful duplication of the environment and the title is super!!

Shots like this are quite amazing and that's what I love about seasonal ephemera, even though I can do without the remnants of winter still clinging to Chicago like shreds of snakeskin that haven't detached after shedding. I love the puddles and the odd, emotional geography created, the puddles themselves are those "seas of dream" or whatever you'd want to call them, and the uneven street surface would, of course be the land, where people live, perhaps fishing for dreams in those seas. Well, that's what it's like in the odd world my mind occupies, but that's OK with me. Black and white is perfect for this shot, especially since it obscures the invading pedestrian a bit, but on the flipside of that, the fact that she's shot from the rear incorporates her more easily into this shot. She's less an intrusion than another bit of ephemera. This is really superb!

Since the main focus is the reflection, its hard to notice the human. Great shot

Wonderful shot and effects on this !!! Thanks for comments!!!
