Description

Bryce7.1Pro/DazStudio/Wings3D/Photoshop I don't usually create images based on a movie, although many movies and film-makers inspire me. One such director is Ridley Scott. His visuals in his movies, from Legend to Alien to 1492 and finally Prometheus, are so awe-inspiring...the way he captures light and mood, and his sweeping vistas. The opening sequence in Prometheus was one such scene that blew my mind, with the large barren landscapes and the lone figure set against the backdrop of the raging falls. I decided to test myself and try to recreate that scene in Bryce...this is the result. The figure is Michael3 with my morphing, the bottom from the Notthar set(retextured in Bryce) and a skin material also created in Bryce. The ship is my Wings3D model from a previous post. Numerous terrains create the landscape, textured in ProMaterials by David Brinnen...the turbulent water is a modified Breaking Combers material. Sky,light and atmo are all custom. Two stretched spheres in a modified cloud volumetric create the spray from the falls, two more large spheres in the same material integrated into the sky create the background cloud layer that the ship is disappearing into(far easier than a cloud slab layer). Postwork involved a slight levels adjustment, additional water spray, motion blurring of the falls, signature and resizing. Thanks for taking a look, and for any comments!

Beautifully conceived. I agree and agree with the opening of Prometheus. Excellet work, you captured the moodiness and desatureated color perfectly.
