Description
I have difficulty counting the years, but the date will always be with me, April 9th. The day my father passed away.
We had kidded with him about getting better, coming home, and coming over for a steak on a new grill we were going to buy, as we had bought our first house the fall before. It was a unusually warm and sunny Saturday afternoon and we were assembling our grill when the phone rang. My sister's voice stating we had better get to the hospital quickly; it wasn't quick enough though. We arrived too late.
I had though a couple months before when my uncle passed away that the world I knew would never be the same, knowing all the while, that when this particular day came, it would be even more true. No, the world has never been the same.
Inspired by the Brad Paisley song of the same title.
