Description

Not art this time...my new art piece is in progress, I thought I show you an interesting shot I took while my famliy and I went to the aquarium in salt lake city... My son on the largest shark jaw that existed million years ago. These giant sharks went extinct when glaciers covered large swarths of this earth. Jaw is 11 feet long by 9 feet wide, the fossil teeths were about 7 inches long.

Nice one of the Megaladon jaw (Had to go to Discovery.com to get the name right.) Very cool shot - though your son looks just a touch uncomfortable - could it be his imagination kinda running away...?

The megalodon, Carcharodon megalodon, (from ancient Greek μεγας = "big" + 'οδους (genitive 'οδοντος) = "tooth") was a giant prehistoric shark that probably lived between about 16 to 1.6 million years ago, but some maintain that they went extinct only 10,000 years ago. It is considered to be the largest predatory fish to have ever lived. a reconstructed set of jaws based on the size of the fossilized teeth. These Jaws you have here are NOT THE LARGEST SHARK JAWS.... google it.... ever since I was a kid I loved to draw sharks - cause I don't live by the ocean - lol... and in the Genuis Book of Records there is a picture of like 8 guys standing inside the jaws.... the Jaws you have here is a baby shark compaired to the largest ever found.

Impressive shot and mouth. Mike is right. These are jaws from the largest known species of shark, but there are jaws of a larger one of the same species. This is huge nonetheless. Thanks for sharing.
