Description
Venice. The Frari’s Basilica. Small marble bas-relief which represents DEAD CHRIST (13° century). The Dead Christ is sculptured to the waist and is naked with bony ribs. He is the IMAGO PIETATIS, the Christ pitied by the angel who cries above him (a scene which is typicalof Italian Gothic art).
