Description

On one of my walks with Magnus, I heard the short "wick" "wick" and knew at once, it was the woodpecker and there it was sitting on the top of a fir tree. Then I was happy for my Galaxy Camera which can zoom 21 times. Was so nice to see it away from the feeding tree of mine.---Zoom for a closer view--- Have a lovely day/evening. We had beautiful weather..... for in door activity. Biting cold and windy, but very sunny too. Thank you so much for your kind comments and fav. :)

Nice shot and unusual to see it in this position. Normally it would be upright on a branch or trunk of a tree.

If this one was feeding, I might have heard him, since woodpeckers can be rather loud, almost like jackhammers. I know when spring comes because I can hear woodpeckers pecking...they're so loud and fast when they do that! They are also among my favorite birds. The ones in Chicago wear nice red hats. I like this handsome specimen. This is definitely a zoom shot. This particular little feathered person looks like he's the king of that particular tree. Such a proud king, just look at that pose: shoulders back, beak forward...wings neatly tucked. Very elegant.
