Description

Corridor after corridor, it all begins to feel the same. My original thought was correct, this tomb is huge. That's when we enter this room and for the first time in ages we now have a choice. Four doors, one on each wall, but how do we choose? "Stay close and don't wander off." Tate says I watch as he moves to the door to our right. I can see the focus on his face, almost like he can see and hear things well beyond my ability. Fascinating how someone so similar to myself can be so different, possessing abilities I can only imagine. In these dim corridors he moves and functions as well I can in broad daylight. He must be elven, but then I have never heard of a six foot elf before. Trying not sound offensive I ask, "Tate, you're Elven...right?" He pauses, then replies. "Half elf. My father was human." That would explain the height. As Tate moves to the far door I notice Bit and Titan have begun examining the door on the left wall. I think like Tate, they can see in the dark much better than myself. "Hayden." Tate says, his voice is so calming. "Now that we have a moment, why don't you tell me why you're really here?" As he asks I find myself wanting to answer him so I say... "Okay, funny story. See there was this dragon, right? We were originally searching for a castle we saw in the distance but with all the chaos and running for our lives we lost our way. We ended up right outside this tomb as the storm was rolling in and decided it was or best bet to wait it out." He still looks skeptical but decide to seize the opportunity and get some answers as well. "What brings you here?" I ask He looks me dead in the eye and wonder how a man so beautiful can also be so intimidating. "I have been looking for this tomb for a very long time. I believe it contains a weapon capable of destroying pure evil. The problem is the myths and lore make no mention as to what kind of weapon it is or give any clues as to what it looks like." "So...how will you know when you find it?" I ask "A weapon capable of destroying pure evil should radiate pure good, anything that powerful I should be able to feel." He seems confident. "What if you can't? Feel it I mean, how do you expect to find it then?" A slight smile quickly forms on the corner of his mouth, it's the first time I have seen him smile. I hope to see more of it it, it suits him well. "Very carefully." he replies as he continues examining the door. I have no reason not to trust him and if he is after a weapon to destroy evil then that would make him good, right? There are so many questions I want to ask him but I don't feel like it's the right time. I note Titan frantically gesturing toward the left door, he really seems excited to go that way. Bit standing behind him however does not seem to share his excitement. "I can't find any reason to choose one door over the next. The little guy seems very sure of his door." Says Tate as begins heading towards Titan. "It's possible his senses are better than mine, have his instincts proven correct in the past?" he asks I can't help but chuckle. Titan always runs headlong into danger while Bit seems to try and avoid it at all cost. "No" I say. "But as you said, one door seems as good as the next." Tate ponders my words for a second then gives me a nod and heads through the door. Titan with an ear to ear grin gives me two thumbs up and rushes in after Tate. This leaves Bit and I staring at one another. It is clear he is hesitant to go through the door so I drop down to one knee becoming eye level with him. "I think Tate is a good man, there is something about him...I trust him...feel safer in his presence." Bit smiles, my words must have sunk in. He reaches out a hand for me to grab so I do. We move towards the doorway together. Please open full size for best viewing.
