Description
This began as a simple photo of an interesting old pillar in a public courtyard in the old section of Dijon. But, in the same way that nature abhors a vacuum, I see a photo with lots of empty space & I have a compulsive desire to fill it. Maybe it would have been better to just leave it alone, but I couldn't help myself. The windows & fountain were not in the original scene, but were added by me & all the components of this image are from my photographs. I used many Photoshop layers & layer blending options to create this image & had a lot of fun doing it.
So, this then is the ancient Pillar-Man of Dijon & his Menagerie, consisting of a Spectral Cat, a Night Heron, two Friendly Frogs, a Transparent Sheep, a Stone Lion & the Elusive Butterfly of Love...

What an incredibly imaginative montage! The color harmony is great. Must be a thin place of overlapping dimensions.

Very interesting scene you've created

This is superb, Claude. I love the way you've taken something symmetrical and added images to both enhance and deny the symmetry. Excellent work! Love the result.

Fantastic, the balancing of the individual images in the composition and their transparency. Did a great job of merging and blending all the layers.

This is marvelous! At first the central figure reminded me of Pazuzu in his major film debut in the Exorcist. Pazuzu is one of those really dark gods who really should get more attention than he does. The thing is, this figure doesn't resemble Pazuzu in the least, and yet the striking presence makes me recall that particular maligned, ancient god. As for this whole shot: it's a wonderful riot of color and texture, shape, and form. It dances marvelously.
