Description
This is the WWII submarine U. S. S. Trigger on patrol in the Pacific. Unlike modern subs, the fleet submarines of the time spent most of their time on the surface where they were able to move quite fast. They only submerged to attack or to hide from enemy vessels.
When making this image I had in mind those scenes from Das Boot with the U-Boat speeding toward the reported location of enemy shipping and the stirring background music from the movie.
I wish that I could have gotten better whitecaps on the waves, but overall I'm pleased with the result.

Yeah, whitecaps, maybe driving rain and the looming shape of Gibraltar in the dark etc would add to the drama, ;-) but hey you've done a great job here, The weather is much nicer in the Pacific anyway! All it needs is those lo-res guys with binoculars on lookout though... they dont want to get bounced by aircraft?
