The habitats and structures you have created are interesting; however the environment is completely unrealistic and thus unconvincing. The image fails specifically in regards to lighting and the Bryce atmosphere you have selected. There is far too much red in the sunlight for this to be on Mars – or anywhere in our Solar System for that matter. I mention this because your title draws the viewers attention to the sunlight specifically – which, in this case, fails to deliver. Perhaps if you had titled the image “Fantasy Martian Sun” this would be forgivable. The over amped red band in the light spectrum lends a uniformly purple cast to all of the rock in the scene – and while the rock texture is nicely done, the effect of your work is ruined by the extremely poor choice of lighting – which could have been corrected/adjusted in the atmosphere lab in Bryce. The extensive blue haze (image middle distance RIGHT) is completely unnatural in appearance and is something I’ve never seen in any natural light image from the Martian surface. There are a plethora of images shot in natural light on the Martian surface available on the NASA website and in my caption notes for my recent image (Link: Under the Martian Sky) I describe a technique to modify the Bryce atmosphere and sunlight settings to reflect the natural quality of light (in various conditions, from clear, to hazy, sunrise, duck, or sunset) by holding a browser window open to a reference image while manipulating the atmosphere settings in Bryce. My image reference for “Under the Martian Sky” was (Link): NASA image reference Link: PIA16769: Mount Sharp Panorama in Raw Colors As a helpful resource here is the URL for NASA’s Photojournal Image Access Homepage: http://photojournal.jpl.nasa.gov/ Hopefully you will find this useful as a reference toward creating more realistic images in the future.

2 wblack Thank you very much for your help-) I will listen to your advice. You are right Fantasia Martian sun, is more suited to this work of art because it does not pretend to photorealism-) Thanks again for your comments,)
