Hi, I'm Andrea, and I'm interested in creatures and plants both wild and tamed, and people of all sorts. I only use a compact digital camera ,as I love being able to get it into a back pocket, and not have to cart heavy kit about. I carry a Panasonic Lumix TZ series, binoculars and a hand lens almost everywhere. Most of my outings are with the dogs so I only use point and shoot.
I am getting the hang of Photoshop, thanks to some very kind folk on RR!Â
I have a wildlife garden in Bournemouth, Dorset, in the UK, and spend a lot of time there . I retired from teaching art to teenagers a while ago.
I'm now getting some good results with my digi compacts; it took me a while to make the switch from my old film camera, an 1960 ish Pentax Spotmatic, but the mistakes are much cheaper! Â
I have 4 lodgers, 3 dogs and a parrot who, as at 2017, I have had 40 years.
I has so far had 19 dogs, mostly rescues.

LOL! How fun! Hopefully it's someone else on RR, and we'll see you peering over the gorse at us. :) Sorry to hear about the low number of birds. That's disheartening.

A lovely sight Andrea, the gorse is particularly beautiful this year.

Superb capture Andrea. God bless.

Dueling photographers! I've enjoyed your photos of gorse so much that I've decided to try growing some here. The uncommonly cold first few months of this year caused the northward hummingbird migration to run about six weeks later than last year. I am happy to report that my first resident hummers have arrived. Hopefully you will see more migratory birds soon!

The diagonal blocks of colour are like an abstract flag of an emerging nation!

A gorse is a gorse, of course, of course, And no one can capture a gorse of course That is, of course, unless the gorse is snapped by our Andrea. Go right to the source and ask the gorse It'll give you the answer that you'll endorse. Its' always on a steady course. Just talk to our Andrea. Awesome POV and textures with this pic of the sloping cliff and shoreline, A.

An outstanding POV - you are rather high up.

What a lovely golden hillside. Our California wildflowers are virtually nonexistent this year due to the sparse rainfall. I do hope the birds come back to Bournemouth soon. They certainly have many places to nest.

Marvelous! I misread the title and thought that you were referring to a photographer named Cliff Gorse, and I nearly went to google him before looking again and noticing those all-important bits of punctuation. Still, I think there should be a photographer named Cliff Gorse. This is such an elegant shot and I love the zig-zaggy roofline adding a bit of zip to this already great shot.

Nice shot Andrea I hope your birds reappear soon and have not been killed by the cold weather.

I think all your birds have migrated to my back garden; I have a record number of different families converging on my feeders! Your gorse is breathtaking, what a lovely yellow cliffside!

The Gorse, of course, is lovely, but I can't help think that row of impossible rooftops would be the ultimate skateboarder's nightmare!
