As you can read in zoom just the place for a lonely sailor on shore leave. 6d in old money is 2.5 pence in decimal. This was on a wall at the Black Boy inn in Caernarfon, North Wales.

What a great story! I'm not sure what that equates to in money today, but it sounds rather cheap for all you got, LOL!! My heritage is Welsh and I'd love to visit there sometime!

a young nun went to the village for the first time for supplies. where ever she went she heard women calling out "a sack of potatoes" when she returned to the convent, she inquired to the head honcho nun about why the ladies was calling out a "sack of potatoes". she answered, I do not know but I know it costs a sack of potatoes
