I am 58 years young, live in Johannesburg, South Africa and I'm a true product of my continent. I love the bush, the animals, sunshine, sunsets - oh well, anything to do with nature. I am unmarried and have three sons - 37, 33 and 30 respectively and three granddaugters aged 12, 6 and 4 respectively and obviously the light of my life! Photography has always been a passion and I have loved it since I can remember. I was still using a SLR camera and only switched to digital only in late 2007! My other passion is travel and I have been lucky enough to have travelled fairly widely. There are however still many, many places I would love to visit "one day." I am truly an amateur photographer and do it merely as a hobby. So please be gentle when you comment on my work. :-) Thank you Piet, my dear friend, for convincing me to place my work on Renderosity. You owe me one! Hugs, Carin xx

What an image! And one of my favorite sorts of six-legged people made a cameo appearance! The colors are amazing and that pale, white central interior bit of the flower is rather intriguing. I always "expect" color, and to see whiteness is just a fun surprise, even though it should be there, even though it is there, it's still a surprise. And a bonus: there's an insect! Not only that but this is such an elegant image, I love the touch of dark green in the upper background, and the woody, thorny border along the bottom. There's a sense of mystery in this, and a really nice mix of light and dark, pale and dark, color and not-color. Great byplay. The writeup makes me think of a film, "the Mirror" by Andrei Tarkovsky, one of my favorite "visionary" directors. You know, one of those Chip-directors who doesn't speak English? His films are often full of really complicated emotions, and stunning visuals: one of which involves water (nearly ALL of his images involve water!) But in this particular image, a young woman, in a room that's...um...leaking...approaches a mirror, with water on it, wipes it, and rather than her reflection as you'd expect to see it, there's an old lady staring back at her. That is one of the arresting scenes in a movie composed entirely of arresting scenes. Your writing captures that essence. This is great.

Such a beautiful flower and poignant poem. I've seen that girl in the mirror, and though the pain is there, so is the hope that comes with each new day and morning glory. CC

There is that "Je ne sais quoi" about the Morning glory, which takes my breath away - so simple and yet bewitching at the same time ... I will never tire of their vibrancy, BB
