My name is Tara, and I was born and raised in Washington State.
Â
In 2010 I married Bill (bmac62) and retired ... two of the best choices I ever made! :)
Â
In March, 2013, we sold our home in Washington and went on the road in our RV full time. What a blast! There is so much world out there to see!
After traveling around the West for a few years, we got rid of the motorhome and are now spending winters in deep-south Texas and summers in Washington State. Spring and fall finds us visiting whichever place strikes our fancy at the time!

If I’m missing from Renderosity from time to time, I’m busy having fun elsewhere.

Superb capture Tara. God bless.

I've seen the original and yea, it's all falling over and everything. I hear that now you can't even go right up to the original anymore; heard they put a fence up.

It is nice to see this reconstruction of the famous circle.A good shot.

wonderful ! I love the shadows

Interesting shot with a mix of shades and colours, I like it. Just two points from a compulsive pedantic: 1. The replica is how they THINK Stonehenge looked before it was abandoned; 2. They now know it was built and expanded on, so what we see today is the remains of the third or fourth version , they aren't sure which.

Very cool view I was there a long time ago (Washington Version)

Didn't know you had a replica in the US. Have seen the original many times as I have passed by on my way to and from the London area.

Didn't realize Stonehenge monoliths were connected like this! Wonder why they decided on these with so many choices out there, but it looks like a great place to add more! A monolith park...kool!

Great image composition. Great contrast. Well done

Its a great shot of a concrete henge but nothing like the original which is still standing well most of it , I have walked around it before the fence the fence went up to stop too many tourists ruining it , It was built by stone age people in 3100 BC a very long time before the USA was even dreamed of so It has every right to have some bits missing, the stone was solid blue sandstone and each one weighs about 4 tons it was moved from Wales I'm not sure how many miles but I think about 240miles ( no JCB diggers or big cranes or Low loader trucks ) All done with blood sweat and tears.

Great image Hugs Susan

Very cool image. I didn't know about this. As for England, its a shame how they've let the place go.

Very Beautiful and well executed image,

Yes, the original has seen some hard usage over the centuries, but that's to be expected, I suppose. The fencing does keep us back, since I'm sure there are idiots who would try to tag it or dig pieces out. It kind of ruins photos to have that orange plastic stuff in the way, but oh well. This one almost looks too neat and perfect, they need to mess the ground up some and plant some grass around the stones. Wonderful capture!

That would be so interesting to go see. Nice shot :)

Nice lines and shadows Tara.

Fascinating link, and I look forward to more of these photos. When you visit me, Stonehenge is only about 40 miles away, and the beautiful city of Salisbury only 30.
whaleman
Cool shot, now you have another reason to visit Andrea, oh, take me with you!

Did they also have alien airships to lift the stones into place? (What, cranes? How disappointing... :o) I presume the angles have been adjusted for the changes in latitude/longitude? Fabulous capture, Tara.

A really awesome shot. Abstract in all the geometric shapes and the shadows. Love it.

Thank you for sharing.

Great capture Tara. These look better than the original, even though some of the original columns still stand, and I wonder if these are aligned with the celestial bodies to allow prediction of equinoxes and such!

Cool!

Fascinating to see "the whole thing" before we experience "the real thing" one of these years:) Fine photo...as always, compo and light!!! Ahhhhhhhhhhhhhhh.

Wonderful capture with the interplay between the light in the shadows! I heard somewhere about there being a full-size replica of Stonehenge somewhere... This must be the one. Wonderful capture, Tara!

OOoh! A calendar! That's my take on it, anyway...but then I'm into calendars and thresholds and stuff and so it stands to reason that I'd see something when looking at this. I love it too. It makes me think of Agara, but that's not too big a stretch...I wonder if something Agaran will come out of this? As far as I know, they didn't go around dragging big rocks around the place and standing them up, but who knows? I love this shot and more would be most welcome!

Great light and shadow play here.

I've been there once. Very impressive.
