Description
I was glancing out my window when I 1st saw this critter land on the old dead Alder snag outside my window. I grabbed my camera and tripod and bolted out the door. It was about 12' up the old trunk so I quickly got a ladder and clambered up. Still not high enough I extended the tripod and set it for macro and turned on the timer for 10 seconds, focused on the trunk before triggering the timer and raising it up to the bug I snagged this awesome closeup of Rosalia funebra aka the Banded Alder Borer !

Thanks folks ! I was stunned after I loaded it up on my computer and zoomed in. It's got hair on it and every part of it is banded. Looked it up in one of my bug books to ID it.
