Description
A different POV of the brook and the sacred pool of Lagole. The photo was taken at noon, but what is more important, perhaps, is the fact that it was the autumn equinox. At that time of the day and the season the brilliance on the surface of the water overflowing onto the pool makes a kind of blade, a sword of light. It points to a feature of the shore where there is a kind of natural altar covered with moss and roots. Bones of sacrificed animals have been found by the archaeologists. On the other side, it points to a cleft between two mountains, in the direction of another soldiers' sanctuary, that on the top of Monte Calvario (Mount Calvary) near the town of Auronzo di Cadore, not far from here (about 8 km.). The lady in the photo is Valeria.
