Hi, I'm Andrea, and I'm interested in creatures and plants both wild and tamed, and people of all sorts. I only use a compact digital camera ,as I love being able to get it into a back pocket, and not have to cart heavy kit about. I carry a Panasonic Lumix TZ series, binoculars and a hand lens almost everywhere. Most of my outings are with the dogs so I only use point and shoot.
I am getting the hang of Photoshop, thanks to some very kind folk on RR!
I have a wildlife garden in Bournemouth, Dorset, in the UK, and spend a lot of time there . I retired from teaching art to teenagers a while ago.
I'm now getting some good results with my digi compacts; it took me a while to make the switch from my old film camera, an 1960 ish Pentax Spotmatic, but the mistakes are much cheaper!
I have 4 lodgers, 3 dogs and a parrot who, as at 2017, I have had 40 years.
I has so far had 19 dogs, mostly rescues.

I am sorry to hear of the demise of your beloved camera. Do you recall how many photos you took with it?

Extremely sorry about the death of your TZ1, Andrea. Glad you still had the original invoice to display in this fine foto. The demise of a camera is always a trauma with me, just like losing a close friend or pet. At least you have your other Panasonics to help you through this bereavement period. I recently lost about 50 photos due to a memory card that went belly up in my Panasonic. What a bummer. Since it was on warranty, I sent it to the manufacturer for a replacement.

Its always sad when you have to say goodbye to a loved one. At least you'll always have the memories. And the pictures.

Funny how we miss things that leave us suddenly, even if we have something better. I still miss my first point and shoot, an HP35 that provided 18,000 photos and got me back into photography. Of course if I had it now I would never pick it up, LOL!

Considering the fact that you are a self confessed beach bum, I think a burial at sea would be most fitting (chucked off the pier)!!!!! Otherwise, off with it's head!

Internal battery could just have reached the end of it's life, I wonder how much it'd be to have it replaced? I remember this camera well when we trekked the golf course. Such a shame.

So frustrating when that happens, I remember that happening with my very first digital, one of those Nikon Coolpix, problem with the usb port... fortunately was still under warranty and got my money back as they did not have a replacement.. I remember the images were good even though it was only about 4mp.

Quite traumatic..but you have this memorial photo!!!

A funeral photo of a dead camera - you are a special person Andrea - and Tizzy 1 does not have a scratch on it! Great pose of Rosie sunning with you over on FlickR !!!
