Description
Since Titans door didn't pan out due to the gelatinous cube we headed back to the room with four doors. This time Tate chose and we went with the door directly ahead of where we first entered. We followed the passageway for quite some time before entering this chamber with what appears to be a well.
"So what other types of creatures are out there that I probably have never heard of?" I ask Tate as he stares down into the well. I wonder if he can see the bottom? I can't resist. " See anything?"
"No, it's to deep. I thought I heard something but it must have been my imagination." He turns from the well to face me. "As for other creatures it's hard to say, I have no idea what you've heard of and what you haven't. They're thousands of creatures out there, many of which thrive in environments such as this. Lets hope we do not run into any of them."
Is he trying to freak me out? Geez, bad enough I can barely see down here and then he goes and says something like that. But as always I can't let something go and let my curiosity get the best of me, I decide to ask him...
"What is the most dangerous creature you have ever faced faced?"
"Humans." he replies with a straight face and dead serious.
I didn't know what to say after that, it certainly wasn't the answer I was expecting. We then remained silent for while, each examining different parts of the room. Every so often I notice Bit and Titans ears shoot straight up like they hear something but then fall back down just as quick. None of us seem to discover anything and isn't long before I notice Tate heading back my direction.
"I think it's best we move on, there is nothing here." he says.
Moving on I begin noticing things I completely missed before. I see now in addition to his sword he also carries several throwing blades skillfully hidden on his body. I also pick up on the fact that he makes no noise as he walks, no clomping or dragging of his boots what so ever. It almost seems unnatural.
"Is it just me or is this a little to large to be a tomb?" I ask.
" I have considered that myself many times already, the architecture seems to be Dwarven. I'm begining to think this was once a great Dwarven kingdom, but until I can say that for certain I will continue to search for what I seek."
Dwarven makes sense. They are skilled stone smiths known for building into mountains, they are also known for hoarding treasure...this just became a lot more exciting!
"what would you do if we came across undiscovered Dwarven treasure? I ask excitedly.
"I really have little interest in wealth, I suppose I would take some gold and distribute it among the homeless and orphans. Give them a warm meal and bed to sleep in for a change."
His answer takes me by surprise and I'm not sure why. The more I learn about him the more I find myself attracted to him, it's so rare to find someone so pure and kind hearted. I wonder if its his Elven side, I have heard they are a very noble and compassionate people.
"What about you?" He asks. "What would you do with unimaginable wealth?"
Easiest question in the world right? Wrong, the second he asks me I find myself struggling for an answer.
"Not sure." I tell him. " I would probably buy a beautiful horse and a nice little cottage by a stream somewhere."
I think I hear him chuckle.
"Whats so funny?" I ask.
"I just can't seem to wrap my head around how someone like you ended up here with someone like me in a place like this. The adventurers life is not in you Hayden, I hope we do find some treasure. The life you described would suite you well and will bring you happiness the path your on now never will."
I follow closely behind Tate pondering his words as we move on to the next area of the tomb.
