I was saddened to hear of this freak accident, but in general I don't see sailing as a particularly risky sport. I sail often in all conditions, and if done properly, it's is a very safe and rewarding sport. The trick is to respect the ocean and know your limitations. The most dangerous thing about sailing is driving your car to the beach.

The sun must have been quite low over the horizon for you to have obtained such a fabulous mood in this awesome shot, A. Although I am unfamiliar with the fellow, a fine dedication to the sportsman that met with the unfortunate accident.

Sailing need not be so risky but many practitioners seem to lose their marbles while at it. Testosterone should be regulated at these events. I am writing in generalities as I know nothing about this particular event.

Beautiful capture of the light, and waves. I like the sails in the distance. I did not know of the accident. It is very sad. Lovely dedication.
