Description

Shields for the gunner depicted in the ABRAMS TUSK and Paladin models you saw were a good idea, but the gunner is still vulnerable to sniper fire. Enter the CROWS Common Remotely Operated Weapons System. There are many different versions out there. The one seen here is from Recon Optical. Kongsberg in Norway makes most of the units for the US military. Other countries have their own versions as well. A CROWS is a few motors, control unit and a machine gun operated from the safety of a tank, Humvee, Oshkosh MRAP, Stryker or just about any other military vehicle including trucks... The first frame is the CROWS unit with an M240-C machine gun attached.. The second frame is the control and display unit. There is another box, but it's just a box for cable connections and wasn't modeled. Not like it's gonna have to actually perform. There is a joystick to control the CROWS unit. I haven't made it yet. The third frame shows what it would look like attached to an old Humvee. Anyway, I thought some of you might find this interesting, but who knows. This was made in Anim8or and was a lot of fun to make the different shapes, screw types, etc.
