Description

I took all the suggestion to heart on my Mermaid post and tried to implement them. Here are the results: 1. I turned the Leviathan and the fish around so they face inward not outward. 2. I tried to add bubbles in Poser but my husband said they just made the image confusing. I don't have Photoshop so I couldn't use brushes. 3. The "sun rays" are actually part of Flink's water. I tried to turn the plane around but they render in the same direction. I think it has something to do with it being a reflection map and not just a texture. I couldn't figure out how to manipulate material files so I left it. Which leads to ... 4. Transparency. I originally thought the water was at full transparency but I was wrong. Unfortunately any attempt to adjust it from 0% leads to "ghost" in the image because of the reflection map again. So murky it has to stay. 5. Lights. I have Luna's underwater lights but after not being able to "clear" the image I figured it wasn't worth trying. So not much has changed, but I wanted you to know I tried.

Terri, being the geek that I am, I took your problem to task. I found out that you can put a texture on the lights. Go into materials tab, click on a light, change pattern. Hope it works.

I think it's better that the fish are facing the mermaid. And the bubbles make the image come alive, nice effekt. But I can't see changes in the light effects. But all in all a lovely image!

Nicely done. Btw, Gimp is free and fairly easy to use. It is kinda like the poor mans photoshop. But it is really a good program.

It still looks pretty, Terri! It's not easy to do underwater scenes and I think you've done very well here!!

I think it worked out well. Not all ocean water is crystal clear. It often has sand and other detritus in it. This scene, to me, is much more realistic.
