Description
Today in much of North America and Europe, this sort of thing would, gratefully, not be a big deal...there was a time however, still well within living memory, when such a love would have been doubly forbidden by a racist, homophobic, intolerant and thoroughly backward society, where most of the human inhabitants still struggled with the concept of upright, bipedal locomotion.
Sadly, it still is the case in a few places I can think of...
There is a story here, for me...but I'm certain most of you can think of your own.

In Miami where I live we have a large gay commuity and it is not a big deal. However, you are right as it was not always like that. In the 50's even here it was not wise to be open about it. Now it does not matter.
