FiFI , boeing b-29 superfortress .................................................. of the nearly 4000 b-29's produced by boeing this is the only one left in flying condition .. ................. what makes this aircraft so special is it was the first to be fully pressurized and use computerized remote controlled gun sights . designed as a high altitude ,long range bomber.. the prototype first flown in 1942 with full production beginning in 1943 .. maximum military speed=357 mph maximum military gross weight=142,000 lbs military service ceiling=45,000 ft range= 3500 miles wingspan =141 ft ,length=99 ft power plant = 4 wright"cyclone"r-3350 -67 am engines with 2,200 horsepower each computer controlled gunnery system armament 12 -50 caliber machine guns , 20,000 lb bomb capacity ... forward crew ; pilot , co-pilot ,bombardier ,navigator ,engineer & radio operator aft crew ; 3 gunners , radar operator & tail gunner .............. facts are taken off the sign board visible at the nose of the aircraft .. I felt it would be a once in a lifetime chance to see this marvelous aircraft when it came through to my local airport so I had to go see it and the others that came , many many thanks to the COMMEMORATIVE AIR FORCE , Midland Texas for putting the time and effort to keep this aircraft flying along with all the others that they put in countless hours to restore and bring to air shows ,

A little trivia for you. Did you know that the Atomic Bomb's droped by FIFI's sisters Enola Gay & Bockscar cost cost's to develop less then they did. The Manhatten Project cost's the US about 2 billion dollars in development while the B-29 Project cost's the US about 3 billion dollars in development. Both figures are NOT adjusted for inflation.
