Description

Alliance, Nebraska CLICK HERE to see the Wiki on Carhenge Some people are just inspiring. Knowing of Carhenge, and of Corey's deep love for a certain vintage of automobiles as an art form, we put Alliance, Nebraska on our bucket list and made it a priority. We told a few people we wanted to see it, and they sort of poo-poohed the idea. Well, to each their own, right? We figured it was worth the trip just so we could take pictures for Corey! Wow. What a totally worthwhile stop! I suppose with a certain mindset it could be boring. I mean, if you looked at it and thought, "Okay, somebody stood up a bunch of cars and spray painted them gray, what's the big deal?" and never went beyond that, you might not enjoy the place. It's a photographer's dream world, though, unless you only like landscapes. Every angle is a different shot, and I had a terrific time! There will be more photos later. Even I don't SAY they're all for Corey ... well ... they're all for Corey. After all, he inspired us to plan our route through Nebraska just so we could see Carhenge!

I had to travel from Washington D.C. to Cheyenne a few years back and elected to drive. All went well until (shudder) Nebraska. I could feel the jeep running, seemed like it was moving, BUT OH MY STARS! All the expanse, I felt like I wasn't getting anywhere. Beautiful state though and we (my daughter and I) enjoyed Carhenge! Thanks for the memory.

This is so cool!! There's a big solar powered store in California that's taken old cars like these and turned them into giant tree planters. It's been several years since they did it and the trees are changing the shapes of the cars. Guess I should get some fotos of it too!!

I had no idea the Druids made it this far west. Pretty cool image. I remember Nebraska. Flat as an ironing board and 500 miles of corn.

There is an Australian made (post-apocalyptic) movie from 1989, which I have always loved - "Spirits of the Air, Gremlins of the Clouds" ... with similar opening scenes to these cars - brilliant! BB BTW I saw today on our SBS TV the news about the Skagit River bridge collapse, in Washington - aren't you glad that you are both traveling presently ?

What a cool perfomance. It also shows that you do not have to reinvent the wheel ...... develop further!

This is amazing! I'd be all over that place and seeing if the cars are gray on the inside too...well...I'd be attempting to see if there is a way to see in them. What a surreal place! It has so many moods and so many intriguing details! Who knew there was a place like this. I think another trip is in order, because I wanna see this for myself and I know Corey will love it. He's in the...um...necessary room at the moment, but as I'm over at his place, I'm gonna make sure that he sees this, since it doesn't look like he's commented. I love this shot.

I like the imagination that created this. I guess you could make a "henge" out of just about anything...
