Description

This is the beautiful violin Jean-Marie made and was kind enough to let me play with. I haven't done it justice here so if you want to really see what a wonderful job he did, go to his gallery and take a look. Nice work, especially the lighting, posing and use of color. Be careful of how close you place the instrument to the body - I see a bit of her blouse peeking through. It's a mistake I've often made myself (and don't catch it until it's posted somewhere :P ). I have found it helpful to insert a small, dark colored plane behind the sound holes, so the viewer gets the illusion of the shadowed inner body of the instrument. It takes a bit of fiddling (no pun intended), but it gives more satisfactory results. If the violin is UV-mapped and the wood is a separate material, you can go online and find a picture of some wood grain and apply it for a more realistic finish (unless she's holding one of those new fiberglass instruments - there are such things). Hope this helps! ;)
