I was born and raised in the "South Bay" before it became "Silicon Valley". I went to Cal State Hayward and graduated with a B.A. in Art. I went back to school at the local JC and got my degree in technical illustration. For the next 25 years I worked as an illustrator and graphic artist at a hand-full of high tech companies. As of December 2012 I officially retired from the "Rat Race". I now have time for my art. Even though I have been a member of the Renderosity community for about 3 years, it has been a silent partnership on my part. I have been enjoying everone else's "Labors of Love" without giving anything in return. That will change.

I just visited the National Museum of the Mighty Eighth Air Force in Pooler, Georgia. I salute your Father and all his fellow pilots and crew members. I will remember them Monday. An excellent creation!

Amazing and beautiful creation !

Very nice tribute for your dad. I think the nose art played its part in keeping the crews morale high in some bleak times.

A very nice tribute indeed. IMHO the nose art of bygone days was truly art and in someway a little piece of home that flew with them. Let us never forget we owe our freedom of expression to those who have gone before us.

Taken in itself, the render looks great (superb lighting and texturing as usual). For the intended purpose stated, though, I think it might be even better if the 'square' had a raised marble floor. Maybe a couple hills at the horizon, too. Well, maybe it's just me. ;)
Sorry to learn about what your father had to go through. While the courage of those who defend their land and country with their lives is undeniable, I sometimes wonder if it wouldn't be better to have a world in which heroes aren't necessary in the first place, a world in which there are no wars to begin with. But perhaps that's just a pipe dream... :(
(Hey, what happened to your gallery? Why are so many of the pics gone?)

Thanks for the comment KT. I thought it was strange that you decided to comment on an older image. The site has not been without it's problems since it's make-over several weeks ago. I can see all my images in my library still, but others have had similar issues. All I can say is complain to the powers that be and hope for the best (LOL)!!!!!!!!!!!
