Description

Not completely finished, still have to put buts in ashtray and try to light the ciggy. Only my second scene, still learning. Only one light used but found it very hard to get shadows right.

Hey Zanato. If you want the ashtray to cast shadow, you need to set the transparency down. Try 90-80%. You can always pull the colour of the glass back up (make it brighter than black). Also play around with checking the fresnel and/or additive marks in the transparency. about the light. Try putting a paralel light underneath the whole scene, pointing in the opposite direction as the main light, and turn off cast shadows. Put it to only 20-30% That'll give an impression of light being cast back from the wood (a VERY cheap raydiosity fake). You can make the shadow from the main light into an area shadow to make it more realistic (maybe it is already?) That ashtray isn't bad at all! Cheers:)

try brightening it up a bit the scene is ver dark overall i.e the light reflecting off the lighter and box is way stronger than the ambient light.
