Description

This is an air plant, in a Magnolia tree, in Winter Haven, Florida. It does not have traditional roots that need to be planted in dirt. Air plants collect moisture and nutrients from the air and thus their name. They attach to anything or everything like trees, plants, power lines and stone walls. They do not damage their host and can be picked off a tree and placed on a shelf, in a shell or hung on a string. They are slow growers and if you look at this posting, you can see a tiny air plant has attached itself above the large air plant in my photo. It might take ten years to double in size. Do zoom. Thanks for stopping by, taking a look and for all your previous favs and comments. They are very much appreciated. Dana

How very cool these are! I like the thought that they just grow from the air... wonderful shot, Dana!

I have had no success with these. Thy require too much attention in our climate! This one looks very healthy in your good pic.
