Description

As the title says, this is just a totally technical nerd shot working with leading lines, of which this picture has several. I see four, maybe five, what about you? This is a gray scale HDR shot handheld with my Fuji X20 compact. No framing because I just wanted to keep it raw and basic.

Love this Roxy... it has a real 'old' look to it with the lamps and the chairs. Beautiful... well done. :)

I see at least five. They're all at different angles, but all going the same place, basically. Cool shot, Roxy and the B&W sure does accentuate the lines!

Leading lines...... Ye gods.... I lost track.... This flat out kicks butt, Roxy! Wow! That HDR is more fun than a barrel of flying monkeys - I just tried my first bit of playing with HDR in PS-CS6 - went on a photo walk back in April, and shot several bracketed sequences, which I processed in PS. Gotta do more! Have to say I'm drooling over those streetlamps, too! An awesome shot, Roxy - keep 'em coming!

(IMHO) B&W seem like the perfect choice for this image giving it a real period look – I really like how the linear composition is broken by the shadows cutting the path and how the bridge intercepts the vanishing point and forces a sharp turn. Very cool shot!!! (5 lines?)

Fascinating geometry, great shadows & a wide range of gray tones - a lot to like about this composition...

For me, I think the HDR has made the shot have too much undiscernable detail so I find it a bit confusing but obviously no one else does, LOL! I do see where you were going with the lines though.

yup the lines work well from that perspective. But I agree with whaleman, it would be a good idea to leave the HDR out. HDR usually makes images look kinda "plastic" and brings out details that don´t really help. The subtle light/shade play is often destroyed. You don´t need that kinda gadget if the shot itself is taken well. Plain shots without HDR have a lot more appeal I think. I´d like to see the plain shot of this one. The grey scale should come out a lot better as well then.

I wonder where those lines are leading to. What is just beyond our sight way down there?

What a gorgeous shot. On the left, the tree line, lights, benches and sidewalk form a wonderful triangle leading to the center while the railing and trees on the right fill in the lower right with the bridge doing a nice job of defining a top border. And I think I can even see faint light rays coming down through the sky upper left to lower right. Excellent contrast and detail

Quite clever enough picture to shoot in b / w. The search will be more difficult. Besides that, it is to chill a boardwalk. So I lean me back.

Outstanding, compelling, really hypnotic work. I don't see it as "technical" at all...well...it is, but there's more of a sense of poetry to it. I really love the intensity of its detailing and the way everything seems so hyper-real but not contrived. Of course I went counting the leading lines in this, and depending on how one looks, I can see at least 7, although 3 of them might be subdivisions of the dominant lines I see. It's an issue of details and following fractal itterations and all of that wonderfully technical stuff, but what I like the most is the fact that the leading lines give you all sorts of doorways into this photograph, and if you follow them, you find that you've traveled somewhere interesting.
