I think the biggest problem with genetically modified foods (or genetically-modified anything) lies in the fact that most genetically modified things are modified simply because the modifiers stand to make a pretty penny of of it. I'm not against genetically-modified foods and food products (that have been properly and rigorously tested, with long-term effects fully mapped out) making their way into the market alongside non-modified products, but I do draw the line and big corporations putting stuff out there for the sole purpose of making money. I'm not against making money, but I am against opening Pandora's box simply because somebody wants the market shares down in the bottom of it, underneath all of the truly bad stuff just waiting to escape. Having said that, I'll also say that this is a great piece of historical photojournalism. Years from now, if we don't stupid ourselves into extinction, we can potentially look back at the beginning of the 21st century and see some incredibly weird stuff going on. I like that this image captures that.
