Description
A piece of the famous wall which split Berlin in two during the cold war. You can see the line on the street on both sides of the piece. That line runs all the way through the city as a reminder where the wall used to be. The wall was destroyed in 1989/1990.

Amazing and a piece of exceptional history.

I remember Ronald Reagan saying, "Mr Gorbachev-tear down this wall" . A part of history to remembered. Aloha

A hundred years from now people will not understand how it stood so long. Great historical photography.

When I travel to Germany next year, I shall make an effort to see this monument for myself - because I will never forget my beloved Berlin, where I grew up and spend my childhood years there - Such a long way from Australia, sigh! thanks for the memory - this is a great piece of visualisation - nothing lasts forever ... well done, BB

Interesting shot and a wonderful piece of history as well. I have yet to visit Berlin, but I spent quite a long time in Prague and other parts of what was once called Czechoslovakia...and there's a ton of history there, as well...so much of an odd feeling when one realizes that it (like East Berlin) existed on the "other side" of the Iron Curtain. It's odd how we humans will insist on dividing ourselves. I wonder how we survive that particular tendency. Marvelous and provocative shot. I really like this.

Nice Work,

Iconic piece of history, it would be great to gather the 'artists' who left their mark on this one piece....so many human stories. In time weather will erase so much, will this then be seen as just an ugly lump of concrete and be discarded? I would certainly hope not....thank you for a truly though provoking post and an important reminder of our past...

Very nice to be able to see this! Thank you!
