Yes, Spring is in full swing here in the Southland and these little guys are all over the place. To me they signify new life and new beginnings. The old year is behind us, the new year is unknown.
When I saw it was Lucinda's birthday I just had to go out and capture an image for her. This one is for you, kid. I hope the new year is the best one ever.

A new year, new beginnings, and an exquisitely beautiful flower. Thank you, Mark! This is delightful! I really like this little guy. I am mesmerized by his petals. 4 full petals (not covered up any by others) and between them two sets of two and two sets of three. Yes, I do get mesmerized by simple things. But he has really beautiful petals. Clean curves that meet at a point at one end and come together to cradle a dark smudge at the other. This is an exquisite flower and the composition brings out the his vivid colors and star quality. The yellow-orange against the dark brown and green is wonderful. Thank you, Mark, for capturing this beauty for me and for you good wishes.

What a beautiful bloom! It appears to be symmetrical, but isn't, which is fascinating in and of itself. The color is gorgeous, and it's in perfect condition. Love this!!

Brilliant and visually poetic! I love that shade of yellow and the pattern of those petals! I've never seen a floral person of this denomination before, and that simply adds to the splendor of this photo. I love the color and--as Tara also saw--the implied symmetry that actually isn't there. WOW! This is well seen and well presented.
