Description
Still sitting by the window, rubbing her tired eyes, Akiye looks out on the rainy streets below.
Remembering something her father once told her. "Sweetheart he said. Sometimes it may seem as if you're fighting a battle all by yourself, but you are never fighting by yourself; you are never alone". Now she understood.
Her fingers gliding along the worn leather binding of the bible lying on her lap, feeling not so much its texture but her Grandmothers soft hands.
Given to her by her Grandmother long ago, Akiye drifts back to her childhood sitting in church smiling up at her Grandmother as she smiled back at her singing along with the rest of the congregation;
"My faith is blind, it knows no boundaries.
I speak in silence, with honest prayer.
Trapped in a body, locked in a sad state;
My crumbling temple seeks sweet repent".
