Description

Bryce7.1Pro/Photoshop An explorer droid begins it's task of mapping and evaluating soil samples from planet LE224(or LikeEarth 224 as it is known to the scientific community back on Earth)...one of 224 planets to have been deemed similar to Earth in terms of gravity and oxygen levels, within nearby solar systems to ours. Four terrains from the Tectonics Evolved Vol.2 SciFi set created the landscape, with a Brinnen ProMaterial applied.Exploration droid is my own Bryce7.1Pro model, with Bryce materials applied.Distant moon is a sphere with a modified Seriously Real Material used ,clouds are a customized cloud volumetric applied to three stretched, large spheres.Sky,light and atmo are custom..sky used as IBL with sun enabled.Postwork involved a saturation boost, signature and resizing. Thanks for taking the time to view, and for any comments!

Fantastic image; terrain and surface. Poor little droid. So small and so much to map. ;-)

I like the mist-shrouded terrain. I think your probe is too small in the picture to immediately draw attention as the focal point. Also, it's color value is very near the light areas of rock within the terrain so it gets camouflaged. If you goal is to have it highlighted, I would lower the contrast in the terrain, or dim its bright areas, or increase the size of your probe and put it starkly against the green. My two cents...

Thanks lhumungus...you are right in stating that the probe is small in the image, but that was my intention,I wanted the terrain to be the focal point, and the droid something you noticed afterwards...the intention was to show the scale of the terrain against the small droid. Always appreciate your input!

Beautifully realized Neil, this big expansive composition conveys with epic visualization, the scale of long range interstellar exploration with superlative skill and grace. The massive blocks of eroded stone rising tier after tier above the mist shrouded forested vales below, the vista invites one to imagine damp cooled air beneath the forest canopy in contrast to the rarified atmosphere of the rocky heights. Worlds are big places. The distances between worlds are vaster still. Your composition communicates this objective reality, the magical detail of this fragile mechanized probe flying free beneath alien skies inspires one wonder at the scale of technological achievement required to send it on exploration at such cosmic range. 5+ my friend, always a pleasure.

Makes one wonder what the droid will find on LE224... Hmm that could prove interesting. Excellent terrain, atmo and composition. I like the scale of the droid, I had to go looking for it and that make me look more closely at the detail of the terrain.

Missed the little drone until I looked at the full-sized view. And then it popped out. So you definitely achieved your intent with the scale of the landscape.

The selection of terrains, atmosphere and procedural material makes this a great composition. Nice Brycing!

Hard to add much that is new to what has already been said with excellence. Think the drone might shown up a bit better if it had been surrounded by a larger part of the shadowy terrain area--as in a bit more toward the middle. Even zooming it, I'm not sure whether the probe is crawling on the ground or flying through the air. The latter is less a comment on your artistic abilities and more about my own poor eyesight. Heh. I fully understood your intent and think you did very well with it. Those are great terrains that I'm beginning to regret not having purchased for myself. Think I would like this planet--or at least this area of it.

Excellent terrain. Love the layers and strata. The probe helps to show the scale. Well done.
