Description
Back in 1914, when I was doing photography with the Chiricahua Apaches in Arizona, I met a young actress by the name of Tobi Marie Carstairs. I was having a short beer in the local tavern in Globe when a very out of place unescorted young blonde walked in to get out of the heat. I was shocked when she sat down next to me, but then, I realized she was just curious about my camera gear sitting on the table in front of me. Come to find out that she just left the Ziegfeld Follies in New York and was heading to Los Angeles to work in moving pictures with Mack Sennett. She said she always felt comfortable around photographers. As she had a free day before her journey resumed, she decided to spend it with me taking photos in my studio. She left the next day. Although I never saw her again, I heard that she met a young upstart cameraman and moved to Australia; never to enter the movie business.
The photo may be damaged with age, but it holds many memories.
