Description

I took this photo of a slightly tattered checkerspot butterfly on my property a few days ago. It was pretty skittish & I couldn't get very close, so took this with a full telephoto (24x). Much better zoomed...

Very beautiful capture - I actually like using a telephoto when photographing flowers because you can get a very nice blurred background like this image. Nicely done!!!

There is much to like here in terms of composition. The wonderful contrast of red and green, the sharp focus and the blurred depth of field, the subtle lead in of the twigs and the fine capture of the insect itself.
