Description

'In Russia we had to face trial now...' * * * * * Yesterday, almost uncovered by western media a bill passed Russian parliament penalizing what they called 'propaganda' for what they called 'non traditional sexual relationships'. It is said that almost 90% of the people back this bill. (Asked to be more explicit I try: This law is against 'propaganda' for 'non traditional sexual behaviour'. In fact it menas that any mentioning of homosexuality in public (and supposedly in favour of it) is forbidden. This includes arts, movies, literature, demonstrations, it even includes kissing or touching a same sex partner publicly. Not mentioning the term 'homosexuality' it is in fact meant to punish homosexuals. It doesn't forbid homosexuality, but it presses homosexuals to be secretive. To hide. The Russian Orthodox Church celebrates...) Brave new world. Conveniently at the same time the pope laments a 'homosexual lobby' within Vatican. I'd love it if there were one... So from now on I know that I'm a criminal for making LOVE the main subject of my 'art'. Obviously in democratic Russia I am...

The dramatic concern your figures present are more than Russian. They're universal. bEAUTIFULLY DONE.

The coverage here consisted of a few small words scrolling across the bottom of the television screen during a news broadcast. I'm not even sure what it meant. Is it a law prohibiting the bashing of alternative lifestyles, or does the law prohibit the exhibition of the lifestyles? (laws against gays/lesbians) There is no Brave New World, only the regression of societies to a time when non-conformance could get you locked up or killed outright. An excellent render and useful details. thanks.

It takes all sorts to make a world, and most people, in most places, are just happy to let them get on with it and live their lives. If everyone could be like that, what a wonderful world it would be. Oh, and image wonderfully done!!

Super die Grafik! Lass' dich nicht wegen deiner sexuellen Orientierung bloss nicht ins Boxhorn jagen, es gibt Dinge im Leben, die ich viel abartiger finde!!!

It is a beautiful render. It is a very sad topic. At least here in Minnesota, same-sex marriage is now legal, Some of the world is moving in the right direction. But some of the world is still mired in ignorance and stupidity,

No future where there is no democracy. That Lenin also said. But, he forgot that he himself said. Let's hope that P is remarried, of a good man. Great job, my friend!!!!!!

Very beautiful work Doro! it is a shame that it cannot be talked about in Russia - so much for working towards a future

I am hopeful. As the world in general begins to embrace diversity, fringe factions are fighting harder to stop it. These "laws" won't hold up for long in a rapidly changing world. I believe that. Your image is beautiful by the way. :)

Beautiful ladies, love their poses and expressions, outstanding work!!!!!!!!!!!! Though many things change, many try to hold to the old way of thinking, Sounds like Russia still needs to get to the 21st century and out of the 19th.

It was like that in the USA for many decades - and in some regions, it still is - thankfully my partner and I live in one of the most progressive areas of the country. I can only imagine the betrayal many open-minded, progressive Russians feel since the collapse of the Soviet system - a collapse that held so much promise for the future... Well, as the philosopher Diderot said: "“Men [and women] will never be free until the last king is strangled with the entrails of the last priest.”

Interesting to see how that will clash with the international spotlight to be caused by the upcoming Olympics in Russia. There's bound to be a few homosexual athletes who don't give a damm about the law, and I wonder if Russia will actually enforce it then?

When our naive and idiotic former president Bush, said, that when I looked in his eyes, I saw a man that would work together with me...Or some such nonsense..However, one glance at this little troll told me that he is the of the birth of another dictator, so how long has he been president? That and the rotten cries for nationalism doesn't bode well for the people of Russia.

On a different note, you ever notice he's a bit too obsessive about proving his manliness, practically to the point of pathology, as well as the attack on homosexuality?
I'm wondering what the inside of his closet will show..
