Description
A beauty of nature for today before I begin posting some really ugly stuff.
Captured 6/11/13, on my way home from the 99 Cents Only store. Actually, it's now the 99.9 Cents Only store since inflation reared its ugly head. Couple that with a nine percent sales tax, and we have OUCH!
Remember to view full size.
Cheerybye, and have a nice day.

This is an excellent capture. At first glance it's like a painting with long brush strokes ,vivid colors and textures. Very well done Dad ! :] See you tomorrow

Very beautiful! Wonderful lines, colors, and light! In zoom the reddish brown on the leaf on the right looks like blood. There are even a few specks. Very dramatic. Excellent capture!

I want to do at least a couple of your Canna shots, because they've become a category all their own, for you. You make these into massive in-your-face design-studies: They grab us and dazzle us and don't let us go. You really delve into the contrast of rich green with yellow-whites, in the stripes: I've rarely seen so much vitality in captures of those stripes. And again, you have this light that appears backlit, frontlit, and lit from within all at once. Very strong work with light. Also, there's an equanimity of detail, focus and light here---hard to describe: But it's as if you brought all the elements of the leaves into equal balance, so we get the totality at once, like a flash, an explosion, a fireworks show---which, in your hands, is what these cannas have become. It's almost aflame. And the 'in medias res' nature of this shot---ie, we're thrust right in the middle of it all (even though you, no doubt, worked on your crop till you got it just where you wanted it)---this emphasizes the huge energy of these leaves, that they just burst into our sight. The bottom leaves are little excerpts, curled into themselves: They're a fine 'bed' to the shot. And the touches of red and brown are perfect foils. Masterful series! I just love these. (Know that ALL of these are favs. Everyone, Harry. I just haven't written RR yet to get my fav's fixed---it's always a clumsy affair, and I just haven't done it. But I will one of these days. Just know your whole gallery is a big unqualified fav.)
