Description

It has been more than a year since I’ve seen a particular Catalpa tree, more than a year since I listened to the stories it whispers about its cousins in a far-away place. I was happy to see that particular tree, as I took a short break from the things I was doing. I was happy to see those large, heart-shaped/spade-shaped leaves, absorbing as much sunlight as a tree might desire. I was happy to stand beneath those leaves, looking up: searching for signs of other life: insects and the occasional, armored crustacean. I saw no insects. I saw no woodlice. I wouldn’t have seen any of those particular people, anyway. Though the day was humid (for the most part) it was undoubtedly unfriendly, and somewhat dangerous to an exposed woodlouse. I didn’t see any insects, either: they were busy…elsewhere. I saw evidence of insects, however. Holes. Signs of insect appetites, easily satisfied with a nibble here and there. This is one such nibble. As always, thank you for viewing, reading, and commenting, and I hope you’re all having a great week.

Head and body. I wonder if there's a message for a specific person, or if any humanoid will do?

Looks like the roof needs repair. The next time it rains some elf is going to get wet. A truly inspired image. This is award winning, museum wall stuff. Wonderfully imaginative.

Wonderful Shot! I see the head and body too, one knee casually resting on the mid rib and feathers in hair. Beautiful detail and light! I thought of you yesterday when listening to NPR (All Things Considered) Robert Siegel and Heather Lea Liljengren (who works for New York City Parks Department) were squelching through wetlands, and had the following conversation: SIEGEL: But let's face it, I mean, to get here and see these irises is quite a trek. I mean, we've been walking through the mud to get here. LILJENGREN: Yes. SIEGEL: And it's not as if New Yorkers are routinely enjoying the sight of this particular iris. LILJENGREN: Well, it depends on which New Yorkers you're talking about. The insects that come and pollinate these iris love them.
